Dolores Augedahl

DoloresAugedahl_webOn April 25,2014, at Caledonia Care and Rehab, Dolores Marie Augedahl, age 91; after having been surrounded by love and good-byes from her family and her daughter, Ann Marie by her side, entered into eternal life.

Dolores was born July 18, 1922, to Nicholas and Charlotte “Lottie” (Schiltz) Marnach in Caledonia, Minn. She attended Catholic Central Grade School and graduated from Loretta High School in 1940. On Jan. 9, 1946, she married Arthur Augedahl and they farmed in Caledonia and Sheldon Townships before moving to a farm in Crooked Creek Township in November, 1952. Art preceded her in death on Jan, 21, 2002. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, renowned for her baked goods. Even with the loss of her eyesight, she continued baking and especially enjoyed giving to family and friends. In 1969, she began employment outside the home for 10 years with the ASCS; she loved her work there and meeting with the people. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville, St. Mary’s Circle and the Rosary Society, the Crooked Creek Sunshiners Homemaker’s Club as well as the Brownsville Senior Citizens. With Art gone and her eyesight failing, she moved to Caledonia. With faith and trust in God, a grateful heart and indomitable spirit, she faced all the challenges of growing old as she had done in raising her family; not always understanding why but always with the belief, “not my will, but yours.” She had a great devotion for the Rosary and the intercession of the Blessed Mother. Dolores has touched so many lives with her goodness and will be dearly missed.

Dolores is survived by six sons, David (Helen), Robert (Anne), Paul (Lorna), Michael, Philip (Cindy), Bill (Kimberly) and two daughters, Mary Clare (Bill) Klug and Ann Marie (Tony) Bauer; 28 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Art, Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gerard Patrick; a great-grandson, Ethan Augedahl; four brothers, Arnold, Earl, Miles (Gov), Vernon (Bud); and a sister, Mary Joan Wiebke; sisters and brother-in-law; Mavis, Elizabeth, Elsie, Mary Ellen and Garnet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Matt Fasnacht will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brownsville, following the lunch. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Family Hall, next to the church, and one hour prior to services Tuesday.

The family wishes to thank all the people who have offered comfort and support, especially Fr. Fasnacht and Sr. Michaeline, for their presence and prayers and the staff of Caledonia Care and Rehab, and also for their good care of Mom this past year and the St. Croix hospice team these past few months.
