Helen Marie Lund, age 69, of Spring Grove, Minn., began her eternal life on May 3, 2014 after a two year illness with cancer.
She was born in Caledonia, Minn. on Oct. 25, 1944, to Alvin and Nellie (Vraa) Oesterle. She attended school in Barre Mills, Wis. and on March 16, 1967 she married Vernon Lund of rural Black Hammer. They lived in rural Black Hammer Township for many years prior to moving to Peterson, Minn. in 1986. She most recently resided at the Manor in Spring Grove and had many friends and family as neighbors and she will be greatly missed by all. She enjoyed her cats, including many strays that she took care of, her dogs and canning of all fruits and vegatables. She loved to dance and taught all of her children at a young age how to two-step, waltz and polka and loved to play a round of Euchre. She and her husband had four children, James (Nicole) Lund, Spring Grove; Connie (Jerry) Johnson, La Crosse, Wis.; Barbara Lund (Fiance of Scott Langer), Caledonia; and John (Michelle) Lund, Houston, Minn.
She is survived by her children; grandchildren, Gina, Jacob, Cassie and Ryan; step-grandchildren Tyler, Jordyn, Emma, Dylan and step-great-grandchild Arora. She is also survived by sisters, Lorraine Thillen, Alys Oesterle, Linda (Joel) Dow; brothers, Al (Dorothy) Oesterle, Harold (Lori) Oesterle, LaVern (Bobbi) Oesterle and Wayne Oesterle; and numerous neices, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; parents Alvin and Nellie; brother, Kenneth, survived by wife Sandra; Robert, survived by wife Ginny; Louise Renk, survived by husband Norman; and sister-in-law Peggy Oesterle.
Visitation will be held at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove on Tuesday, May 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. and the funeral will be at the Black Hammer Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Leonard Liptack. There will be a luncheon provided after the service. Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove helped the family with funeral arrangements.
