LuVern E Rud, age 85, of Mosinee, Wis. died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Marathon Assisted Living.
He was born July 15, 1928, in Caledonia, Minn., the son of the late Elmer and Elsie Rud. He married his wife, Rosemarie Hartman, on July 6, 1952 in Menominee, Wis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a wonderful and loving father who loved nature and animals. He was also one of the first ones to help out a friend in need. Vern loved growing Christmas trees and having people come cut their own fresh tree. He also loved playing pool and horseshoes with the Hammer Down teams and socializing with people. Everyone who knew Vern knew how much he loved life and loved to have fun.
Survivors, besides he wife, Rosemarie, include four children, Mike (Sandy) Rud, Largo, Fla.; Cindy (Bruce) Beaty, Marathon City, Wis.; Dave (Mary) Rud, Eagan, Minn.; and Barb (Dan) Suvaka, Caledonia, Wis.; ten grandchildren, Luke (Dawn) Rud, Joshua (Gretchen) Rud, Danielle (Dave) Werner, Brittany Rud, Benjamin (Raquel) Beaty, Thea Beaty, Trevor Beaty, Michelle (Joel) Flage, Seth Beaty and Josiah Beaty; six great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Rud, Rylie Jo Rud, Bobby Flage, Brock Beaty, Lauren Beaty and Briana Beaty; three brothers, Eddie, Elmer (Beverly) and LeRoy (Marge), all of Caledonia; and two sisters, Rosie Laumb and Shirley (Deak) Hagen, both of Caledonia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willy and Earl, and two sisters, Dorothy and Bernice.
A VFW service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.
