Softball team eliminated from playoffs

In a 2-2 tie game, Winona Cotter erupted for 10 runs in the top of the eighth inning and upset Spring Grove/Caledonia 12-4 in the championship game of the Section 1AA East softball tournament.

Cotter, the No. 2 seed, avenged a 2-1 loss to top seeded SGC during the regular season.

Sophie Augedahl went 3-for-4 at the plate.


Fall to Zumbrota-Mazeppa

The Spring Grove/Caledonia Warriors softball team lost Tuesday’s neutral non-conference game against Zumbrota-Mazeppa by a score of 2-0, ending their season. The team finished with an overall mark of 13-4 going 5-0 at home, 5-1 on the road and 3-3 in neutral locations. Information from the Zumbrota-Mazeppa game was not available at press time.

Defeat PEM

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the third inning to Plainview-Elgin-Millville, the Spring Grove/Caledonia softball team scored eight runs in a Section 1AA West softball elimination game Friday.

McKenzie Denstad homered and drove in three runs for SGC.
