Matt Blair, former Minnesota Viking linebacker will be this year’s Grand Marshall during the Brownsville Days celebration.

Blair was an outstanding linebacker for the Vikings for 12 seasons from 1974 to 1985.

“I am looking forward to coming to the event and be the Grand Marshall of the Parade!” noted Blair.

“I understand that Matt is very interested in participating in the bean bag tournament as well,” noted Brownsville Lions Club president, Jeff LeJeune.

Blair is expected to be in the community parts of Saturday as well as Sunday, June 29.

Blair came to be named the Grand Marshall through a local connection.

“Trisha Long, a former Lions member, had been in communication with Matt,” said LeJeune.  “Trisha had suggested being a judge for the parade, but the Lions thought that he would be much more visible being in the parade.”

This year’s parade is expected to have numerous entrants.

“We expect approximately 40 entrants, although our parade chairperson, Barb Hurley, said that last minute entries are welcome up to Saturday,” noted LeJeune.

The parade will make its way down Main Street, Brownsville.

It begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.
