Caledonia 12U wins annual Bud Marnach tournament

Caledonia went a perfect 4-0 on the day to win the Bud Marnach tournament, defeating Minnesota City in the championship game.

 

Caledonia 8 Minnesota City 1

Matt Gavin and Jed Kasten led the way for Caledonia each with two hits and 2 RBIs.  Donnie Lakey pitched the entire game recording four strikeouts and giving up one run on one hit.

 

Caledonia 4 La Crosse BGC 1

With the score tied 1-1 in the last inning, Caledonia came up to bat in the top of the inning to score three runs to give them the lead for good. Jed Kasten had a big 2-RBI double to swing the game in Caledonia’s favor. Donnie Lakey, Carter Bratland and Matt Gavin had the only other hits for the Warriors. Matt Gavin pitched the whole game and shut down a very good Boys and Girls Club team.  Gavin recorded seven strikeouts and gave up only one run.

 

Caledonia 14 Stoddard-Genoa 4

Donnie Lakey and Noah Jennings each had a homerun for the Warriors. Isaac Denstad, Jack Strub and Tanner Conniff all contributed with timely hits. Noah Jennings pitched four innings with seven strikeouts and gave up four runs on four hits.

 

Caledonia 13 Minnesota City 3

Caledonia squared off with Minnesota City for the title. After going down 1-0 in the top of the first, Caledonia busted out with four straight hits and recorded four runs to take the lead. The Warriors scored nine runs in the second inning highlighted by a Donnie Lakey triple. Carter Bratland, Noah Jennings and Donnie Lakey all recorded two hits. Jed Kasten, Tanner Conniff and Luke Twite had one hit each. Carter Bratland was on the mound for Caledonia recording six strikeouts giving up three runs on three hits.
