My name is Kristin King-Aasum and I started my Girl Scout journey by becoming a leader two years ago when my daughter became a Daisy Girl Scout in kindergarten.  This week, March 8 through 14, is Girl Scout week. I wanted to share a little about the Girl Scout program with you. Girl Scouts of the USA is the largest organization for girls in the world. The mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  Through activities in science and technology, business and economic literacy, and outdoor and environmental awareness, Girl Scouting provides girls with opportunities for fun and friendship while fostering the development of leadership skills and self-esteem.

Girl Scouts was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912. Every year in March, the birthday of Girl Scouts is celebrated starting with Girl Scout Sunday. I wanted to recognize the girls that are in the Caledonia program and mention some of the fun activities they have been doing.
