Minnesota Farmers Union honors FFA during this year’s National FFA week

Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) joins FFA chapters around the country will celebrate FFA week February 18-25, 2017.

“MFU has long supported the FFA program. FFA has been a staple in the lives of many young future innovators and leaders. The foundation and support such which FFA gives the opportunities for growth and great success for our future generations” said Gary Wertish, Minnesota Farmers Union President. “MFU will continue to support programs such as FFA and help them make a difference in the future of America. The leadership, personal growth and career training that they provide is hard to beat and makes a difference in the lives of so many students.”

Minnesota Farmers Union supports FFA by:

• Annually donating 40 FFA jackets through the Blue Jackets Bright Futures Program;

• MFU members donated an additional 76 jackets during the 75th annual MFU State Convention judging numerous FFA competitions across the state;

• Hosting FFA State Officers at the Minnesota Farmers Union Office. Sponsoring an annual FFA essay contest encouraging students to learn about a new topic and its place in rural Minnesota and Minnesota’s economy. The winner receives $1000 for their FFA Chapter and a trip to Washington, D.C.; assisting and facilitating the Minnesota FFA ag policy experience, a program specifically for older students interested in public policy.

MFU has been a continuous star partner sponsor of FFA.

Minnesota FFA’s theme for the year is “Transform Purpose to Action,” and it embraces nearly 90 years of FFA traditions while looking forward to the organization’s future.
