I know first hand as a father of two members of the cast of “Mary Poppins” how much work was put into this year’s performance.
Director Heidi Myhre said the students’ choice of the play was ambitious, and the length and depth of the performance showed.
The kids did an excellent job and it was a weekend of smiles as they made you laugh and sing along at the story.
It was fun to see students grades 6 through 12 working together and putting on such a wonderful show.
Of course as a father I am proud of my sons, who fight like all brothers do on most days, but even hugged on stage for their roles as father and son.
I tried to compliment the performers individually as I made my way through the cast line, but let me just say publicly that so many of our students are awesome singers.
Let me also say thanks again for a memorable performance.
It was so nice to see the community come together in support of our students as the crowds were thick at all three performances.
In addition, it was great to see the pit band feature senior members of our community, supporting the students on stage who ranged in age from 11 to 18.
It was a weekend well spent thanks to Myhre, her pit band and her performers.
Myhre is so well liked and supported by her students as they hugged and presented her with gifts following Sunday’s final show.
The students began work on the play back in January and there were some nights in late March where the two and three hour practices turned into five and six hour marathons.
All so the students would be ready to do their best over the course of the weekend’s performance.
I hope you all had a chance to see this weekend’s play and if you didn’t, I hope you’ll come out and support these talented kids next year.
Thanks once again students, I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
