Born in Caledonia, Minnesota, Ronald was a lifelong farmer with an affection towards International tractors. Ronald was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish and worked for years with the Monday night bingo crew as well as the Knights of Columbus. He also worked side by side with his children, active in 4-H for 20+ years. When it came to playing cards, particularly Euchre, Ronald was nearly unbeatable.
Ronald married Melba Thillen on June 5, 1951 and together raised six children: Gary (Bernadene) Privet, Caledonia; Jean Ann (Lonny) Tweeten, Spring Grove; John (Jeri) Privet, Sugarland Tex.; Karen (Edward) Voight, Caledonia; Mark (Laurie) Privet, La Crescent; Kenneth (Julie) Privet, Caledonia. Also surviving Ronald are his eighteen grandchildren: Peter (Lynda) Privet, Lora (Brian) Wild, Tony (Lynette) Privet, Brenda (Josh) Brumm, Kari (Michael) Ingvaldson, Karen (Russell) Larson, Kati (Brandon) Bergey, Karla Tweeten, Tyler (Sara) Privet, Alex Privet, Anna Privet, Tessa Privet, Jessica (Ryan) Kealhofer, Kevin Voight, Brianna (Keith) Jonsgaard, Macy Privet, Spenser Privet, and Grace Privet. He also has twenty great-grandchildren including Sam, Ava, and Leo Privet; Beau and Zander Wild; Shaun, Kandis, Lydia, and Leah Privet; Mylee and Garytt Thorson; Jaxtyn Brumm; Tristan Ingvaldson; Hayley, Jordan, and Tyler Larson; Kinsley Bergey; Quinn Privet; Brennan and Karson Jonsgaard; and one more great-granddaughter on the way.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Catherine Privet, parents-in-law John and Apollonia Thillen, sisters Eileen Welscher and Rose Marie Deters, brother LaVern Privet as well as his brother-in-laws Valerie and John Thillen, and sister-in laws Lorraine Vick and Carol Schieber.

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia beginning at 10:30 a.m. with visitation sixty minutes before. The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. A separate visitation will be held Thursday May 4 at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall from 4 to 7 p.m.
