Austin Werner, Derek Vonderohe and Eric Augedahl would all draw bases loaded walks and Kyle Cavanaugh would hit a SAC fly for the 4-0 lead. Post 191 would open up the game with six more runs in the second inning powered by doubles from Storlie, Cavanaugh and Tyler Wiebke. That would be plenty of runs for starting pitcher Austin Werner as Caledonia cruised to the 11-1 victory. Werner pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, no walks and struck out seven.

Vs. La Crescent

On Wednesday, July 12, Caledonia would square off against the #3 seed La Crescent. The Lancers would start fast with three runs in the top of the first. Caledonia would answer immediately. Storlie would lead off with a triple, Payton Schott would walk and a Tate Meiners RBI groundout would score the first run.  Derek Vonderohe and Evan Denstad would follow with singles, and an Austin Werner double would put Caledonia up 4-3. Caledonia would add another run in the second on a Meiners RBI double and a Payton Schott RBI double in the fourth inning put the score at 6-3.  Starting pitcher Storlie would take over from there and shut down the La Crescent offense as Post 191 walked away with the 6-3 win. Storlie picked up the win pitching six innings and striking out seven. Tate Meiners pitched the final frame to pick up the save.

Win over St. Charles

With the win, Caledonia advanced to play the top seed St. Charles on Saturday, July 15th in Lewiston for the sub-district championship. St. Charles would score one run in the first for a 1-0 advantage. Caledonia would tie the score in the second as Austin Werner singled and Kyle Cavanaugh cracked and RBI double. Casey Storlie and Tate Meiners would each hit doubles in the third inning to put Caledonia in the lead at 2-1. Storlie would lead off the fifth inning with a long HR to right for a 3-1 lead. Payton Schott would follow with a double and Derek Vonderohe would drive him in with a single for a 4-1 advantage. Post 191 would stretch the lead to 8-1 in the sixth. Tyler Wiebke would walk, Eric Augedahl, Storlie and Schott would follow with hits and a Meiners SAC fly would complete the scoring for Caledonia as they finished off St. Charles by a 8-3 final and the sub-district title. Winning pitcher Austin Werner pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking one. Storlie paced the offense going 3-4 with a HR, double and 3 RBIs. Schott chipped in a pair of hits and 2 RBIs.  With the win the team advances to the four team district tourney in La Crescent. Caledonia plays Medford at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday July 20.
