Shirley was born April 23, 1941, in Caledonia to Elmer and Elsie (Sass) Rud. She went to grade school in Winnebago Valley, and then went to Caledonia School. Growing up she worked at Kealy’s Café. On June 21, 1958, she married the love of her life, Raymond “Deke” Hagen in Caledonia. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary of sheer wedded bliss. Together they had two sons, David (Julie) and Ronald (Karen) and a daughter that died at birth. Also left to cherish her memories are her six grandsons, Tory, Shawn, Dalton, Traeton, Shane, and Eli, and great-grandson, Heath.
Shirley worked at the Button Factory in Winona and then went to work at Rush Products where she retired from after 30 years.
Survivors include her husband; two sons; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Rosie Laumb, two brothers; Elmer “Sonny” (Bev) Rud and LeRoy “Snooky” (Margie) Rud; one sister-in-law, Nikki Rud; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her infant daughter, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate.
