Now with 25 of the 27 precincts reporting, Mark Inglett is expected to be the new sheriff of Houston County. Inglett has a 63 to 36 percent lead over incumbent Doug Ely. With nearly all of the precincts reporting, Inglett has secured 4264 votes to Ely’s 2407.

Teresa Walter, current board chairman of the Houston County Board of Commissioners, has defeated challenger Ken Tschumper 1166 to 535 votes. Walters won with 67 percent of the vote, while Tschumper picked up just 31 percent. The main issue of the campaign was silica sand mining in the county.

His campaign sings read “Justin…Commissioner.” Justin Zmyewski will keep his spot as Houston County Commissioner in District 2 with a 53 to 46 margin of victory over challenger Eric Johnson. With all seven precincts reporting, Zmyewski defeated Johnson by a 831 to 720 vote margin.

With 400 of the 696 precincts reporting, Incumbent Tim Walz is projected to beat challenger Jim Hagedorn for the House District 1 seat. Walz currently has a 54 to 45 advantage with about two-thirds of the precincts reporting.
