Up Clothes and Personal opens Sept. 1

County settles on furniture contract for justice center
|
|
County commissioners approved a furniture contract for the new Justice Center on Aug. 24. Henricksen, an office furniture supplier located in Minneapolis, won the bid on five of seven project categories, including seating, tables, storage, desking and panel systems. Justice Center Project Manager David Prachar said that two categories, miscellaneous and refurbishment, “essentially were not bid or the bids came in wrong.”

Health Awareness Month at Kids Corner

Kids Corner teamed up with Houston County Public Health to do a Health Awareness Month at Kids Corner. Each Wednesday, they have someone from Public Health come in to talk to the kids about being healthy. Public Health is doing this as part of the SHIP grant they received. City council sets preliminary tax levy for 2011 at $658,290
|
|
The Caledonia City Council set the preliminary levy for 2011 at $658,290. The action was taken during the Aug. 23 council meeting. Just like last year, the state set a levy limit increase of 3.9 percent for local governments. But the state also allowed for cities to recoup the amount of state aid (LGA) withheld in 2010.
