After 80 years, Schmitt twins are still touching the hearts of many
|
|
Caledonia residents Mildred and Lorraine Schmitt were honored this past week for their service to their church and community with a birthday open house at St. Mary’s Church.
As I spoke with Father Gregory Leif on the phone, something in his voice made me think he must be smiling. I had asked him if he would like to tell me a little about Mildred and Lorraine Schmitt, twin sisters who have lived in the Caledonia area all their lives.

Changing seasons in Caledonia
|
|
What a difference a day can make. Thursday the Caledonia area
enjoyed partial sunshine between showers and temps in the 50s. Friday
the front that dropped up to eight inches of snow in the Dakotas turned
the landscape white. The photo at right of a sumac leaf resting on some
moss was taken Thursday afternoon near Beaver Valley State Park. The
photo above was taken Friday morning. Photos by Charlie Warner
