Char Meiners appointed interim County Auditor at May 6 meeting

 With 28 years  experience working in the Houston County Auditor’s Office, Char Meiners was the logical choice to replace retiring County Auditor Pete Johnson. The Houston County Board agreed, and  approved the appointment of Meiners as the interim county auditor at the May 6 board meeting.

Board looks at fuel issues at Houston County Airport
Aviation fuel for persons utilizing the Houston County Airport, and what to do with private fuel tanks took up a portion of the county board’s May 13 meeting. Tom Molling of the Highway Department, who also oversees the operations at the county airport near Caledonia reported the county needs to order more fuel.

During the past decade a number of businesses have left the downtown Caledonia district to relocate along the Highway 44/76 business corridor. The reasons for the business relocations are numerous…larger lots to construct new buildings, more room for larger parking lots, more visibility and potential customer traffic because of the highway.
