Proposed school levy is $2,577,511

The ISD #299 Board of Education set their levy limitation for taxes payable in 2010 on Monday, Sept. 21. Superintendent Bruce Thomas explained that he and Business Manager Barb Meyer had attended a state sponsored workshop on the levy situation in Rochester, and returned with their recommendation that the board levy the maximum amount in all categories except health and safety. The proposed certified levy is $2,577,511.

Winter Wonderland celebration to be held this December 4 - 6

Caledonia Community Celebration board members are in front from left, Jackie Johnson and Chelsey Lager, and in back Sue Bauer and Tony Jones.
Earlier this year it was announced that due to a lack of support or interest, Caledonia’s Winter Wonderland Parade and celebration would not take place this year. The ever-dwindling group of community-minded persons who volunteered copious hours of time to make the December community event a success cried “uncle.”

Proposed 2010 tax levy is set at $9,571,868 for Houston County
|

The Houston County Board set the proposed 2010 levy at $9,571,868 during the Sept. 15 board meeting. County Financial Director Casey Bradley noted that the $9.5 million figure is the maximum the county can levy.
