Peggy Perry: ‘It was time to give something back this community’

“I felt like this was the time to get involved. I don’t work outside the house, so I would be available for committee meetings or special council meetings. Caledonia is a great place to live and we have developed some life-long friendships here. I was asked if I would consider being on the city council. I said I would. I feel I can contribute and give something back to this community.”

Local Masonic Lodge offering display space

“When you see deserted storefronts downtown, it’s not just very impressive. We’re trying to do something about that. That’s why we’re offering our window fronts for displays,” explained Ervin Barth of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge.

Three more flood recovery loans are approved for area businesses
There more business flood recovery loans were approved by the Houston County Board during the March 25 meeting. The three loans will help Houston County businesses recover from the flash floods of August 2007.

Pam Griffith receives ‘Scot of the Year’ award
Long-time Caledonia Public Schools teacher Pam Griffith was honored Saturday by being named the “Scot of the Year,” during Caledonia’s 14th Annual Scottish heritage Dinner. The event, which was held Saturday evening at the Four Season’s Community Center, was enjoyed about 140 persons of Scottish heritage, and those who wish they were.

Sen. Klobuchar gets first hand look at flood recovery progress

As she entered the board room in the Houston city office building, Senator Amy Klobuchar had everyone’s attention. Her bright smile and pleasant disposition made you feel welcome, right at home. She shook hands and met some of the locals. Some she had met previously, others she was getting to know for the first time.
