14 & under girls softball seasons comes to an end

Onalaska Tournament
The 14 and under girls softball team played in the Onalaska tournament on Saturday, July 24, placing second, losing to Onalaska 1-0 in the championship game. The girls had a great chance in the fifth inning with runners on second and third with one out. Marie Doering probably hit the ball the hardest she has all year hitting a line shot right at the second baseman. It’s a game of inches. Samantha Bratland pitched a two hitter, striking out 11. Samantha and Marie Doering each had two hits.

Caledonia 12U Black concluded another successful baseball season

The Caledonia 12 & Under Black summer rec baseball team recently completed another successful season. The team is pictured with their first place medals following the La Crescent tournament. The Caledonia 12U Black baseball team just completed their third consecutive winning season together. Despite playing in the La Crosse Baseball League’s elite division and facing the strongest competition in the area, Caledonia posted a 25-8-1 record for the 2010 season. Overall for the past three seasons the boys’ have played a total of 99 baseball games and can claim a very respectable 76-20-3 record during that stretch.

Bud Marnach tourney action

Baseball was king this past weekend, as 16 teams competed in the Third Annual Bud Marnach Memorial Little League Tournament. In the photo above, catcher Riley Gavin waits for the throw home, as Levi Schmidt slides in. Schmidt’s teammate Noah King and umpire Travis Frank closely watched the play. Caledonia Black defeated Caledonia White for the 10U championship. La Crescent topped Caledonia Black for the 12U title. Prairie du Chien beat Lansing in the 14U title.
Teams that participated in the two-day tournament included: 10U- Cal. Black, Cal. Gold, Cal. White, Decorah, Holmen, and Brice Prairie. 12U- Cal. Gold, Cal.
