In a show of power, pitching, and defense, the Spring Grove/Caledonia softball team beat Lyle-Pacelli (L-P) and La Crescent in 10-run rule games last week.  The Lions had a 10 run lead after five innings and that margin meant a victory each time without further play.

At first there were four. Then, there was rain, next, postponement. A date would be discussed. The four would become three, the three, two finally, it would be agreed that on April 21, La Crescent shall travel to Caledonia to make up the track meet originally scheduled for April 11.

The Caledonia baseball team picked up a win and dropped a game during another rain-shortened week. The Warriors defeated visiting Plainview-Elgin-Millville 8-2 on April 14 and then lost to Wabasha-Kellogg 15-7 on April 17.

 Ryan Goetzinger pitched a strong game against PEM last week. The junior right hander gave up just one earned run, on four hits, walked four and struck out five in a complete game.

Spring finally arrived in Southeast Minnesota, allowing the Caledonia/Spring Grove boys golf team to host their first meet of the season. The Warrior boys crushed Fillmore Central on April 14 at Ma Cal Grove by 39 strokes, 160-199.

Caledonia resident Spencer Yohe was inducted into the Minnesota Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame during an honors banquet held April 12 in Owatonna.
