Yvette A. “Angel” Miller, 44, formerly of Caledonia, died at her home in Chilton, Wis., on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
Angel was born Nov. 21, 1964, in California to Fern and Mary Louise
(Hoff) Hamill. From age four until age 14 she lived in various places
in foster care and with family. Angel attended school in Spring Grove
and received her G.E.D.
In 1993 she married Wayne Miller at Beaver Creek State Park in rural Caledonia and they later divorced.
Survivors include her two children, Amber Miller (Steve Goetzinger) of
La Crosse, and Dustin Miller of Caledonia; her father Fern Hamill of
Tucson, Ariz; two sisters Elberta Larson of Duluth and Elisia Quick of
Eugene, Ore.; five brothers, Andrew Moulis of Dresbach, Minn., Richard
(Chris) Moulis of Bristol, Conn., Kenneth (Shelly) Moulis of Tillamook,
Ore., and Michael (Deb) Hamill and Charles Hamill, both of Tucson,
Ariz; many nieces and nephews; and her foster mother, Clara Hubbard of
Arizona.
Yvette was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Louise Solberg.
A service of remembrance will be Saturday, Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at
Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia. Friends may call at the
funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. A
celebration of Angel’s life will follow the service at Elsie’s
Restaurant and Bar in Caledonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Lucille Berry, 89, of Benton, Ark., died July 21, 2009, at the Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant, Ark.
Lucille was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Ivanhoe, Minn. to Peter and Stephinia (Boszekowski) Bednarek.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann Olson of Caledonia, Minn.; four
sons: James Berry, Earnest Berry, Scott (Barbara) Berry, and Edward
(Theresa) Berry all of Benton, Ark.; several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; one brother: Alex Bednarek, Caledonia; three
sisters: Alice Coleman, Sun City, Ariz.; Florence Paplaczyk, Columbus,
Ohio; and Delores Peterson, St. Paul, Minn.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Berry; a son-in-law,
Harold Olson; three brothers: Edmund, Leo and Donald Bednarek;
and two sisters: Rose Janssen and Virginia Bednarek.
A private graveside service will be held in Caledonia. Ashby Funeral
Home of Benton, Ark. and Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home of Caledonia
are assisting the family with arrangements.

Richard "Dick" Popp

Richard “Dick” Popp, age 69, of Evanston, Ill. died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 of heart complications.
Richard was born July 3, 1940 in Evanston, Ill. to Joseph and Louise
Popp. On Sept. 2, 1967 he married Mary Schulze of Caledonia, Minn. Dick
worked at Harris Bank and Trust in Chicago, Ill. for 34 years until he
retired in 2001.
Survivors include his wife Mary, and a son Andrew (Eunice) of Waukegan,
Ill.; two sisters: Ruth (Chuck) Washington, Fort Collins, Colo., Mary
(Robert) Finegan, N.C.; three brothers-in-law: Robert (Judy) Schulze,
La Crescent, Minn., Kenneth Schulze, and Richard Schulze, Caledonia;
and five sisters-in-law: Darlene Mickelberg, Onalaska, Wis., and
Shirley Schulze, Lois (Merlin) Klein, Diane (Ardy Krueger) Schulze, and
Leigh Goetzinger, all of Caledonia.
Dick was preceded in death by a sister Dolores, brothers-in-law Richard
Mickelberg, Roger Schulze, Larry Schulze, and niece Jackie Klein.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

Robert Duehlmeyer

Robert
Henry Duehlmeyer, age 73, of Caledonia, Minn., died Friday, July 17,
2009 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse after a battle with
cancer.
He was born May 12, 1936, in Beecher, Ill., to Henry and Evelyn
(Jacobs) Duehlmeyer. Robert was a 1954 graduate of Crete-Monee High
School. On June 8, 1957, he married Ruth Van Swol at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Beecher, Ill. After working as a foreman at
Montgomery Ward Paint Factory for 23 years, Robert moved his family to
Minnesota where he began farming. He stopped farming in 1984 and worked
for Bob Giblin and then for Farmers Co-op Elevator in Houston, Minn.,
from 1988 until 2001 when he retired.
Bob was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia and
served on the Luther High School board of control for six years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; nine children: Pastor Robert, Jr.
(Mary), Sodus, Mich.; Linda (Pastor David) Nottling, Fox Lake, Wis.;
Jeffrey (Mary), Des Moines, Iowa; Ronald (Lori), Mankato, Minn.; Jane
(Craig) Zibrowski, Mankato; Mary (Jon) Pasbrig, Phoenix, Ariz.; Ann
(Kyle) Brandt, French Island, Wis., Erin (John) Scholtes, Mankato; and
John (Kari), Fairmont, Minn; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and his mother-in-law, Malinda Van Swol, Crete, Ill.
Robert was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 11 a.m., at St.
John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Beecher, Ill.,
at a later date. Friends may call at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral
Home, Caledonia, on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the
church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church debt
reduction or to Luther High School in Onalaska, Wis.

Conrad Roverud

Conrad Trygve Roverud, age 88 of Hokah, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
He was born July 24, 1920 in Spring Grove, Minn. to Conrad and Anna (Hensrud) Roverud.
He is survived by his brother Roald (Marietta) Roverud, Los Angeles,
Calif.; and two sisters Ethel Barnet, Los Angeles, and Signe (Ernest)
Roble, Spring Grove.
He was preceded in death by his sister Elida Deris.
Memorial services will be held Tues. July 21, 2009 at 7 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Hokah.
Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is in charge of arrangements.

David “Huggy” Holzwarth, Jr., 35, of rural Mabel, died Saturday, July
11 near Hatfield, Wis. from injuries suffered in an ATV accident.
He was born Feb. 26, 1974, in La Crosse to David Sr. and Cathy
Holzwarth. He was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in
Caledonia and confirmed at the Scheie Lutheran Church in rural Mabel.
He graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1993. He enlisted in the
United States Air Force and served at the Lackland Air Force Base in
Texas.
After he was discharged he returned to the Mabel area and worked for
Myron Hirsch, FeatherLite and recently at the Poet Biorefining in
Preston as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of the Scheie
Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his mother Cathy of Canton, special friend Heather
Stark and her daughter Sadie of Mabel, two sisters Rebecca (Michael)
Carmack of Caledonia, Tina (Steve Wallin) Holzwarth of Canton,
two brothers Benjamin (Shanna) of Waukon, Iowa, and Andrew of La
Crosse, and 10 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father David, Sr., paternal grandparents
Raymond and Goldie Holzwarth, maternal grandparents Clara and Carlton
Myhre and an uncle John Myhre.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 17 at the First Lutheran
Church in Mabel with the Rev. Mary Waudby officiating.
Burial will be in the Scheie Cemetery with military honors from the
Mabel American Legion.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the Mengis Funeral
Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
Mengis Funeral Home of Mabel is in charge of the arrangements.

Alma Michaud

Alma F. Michaud, 91, of Caledonia, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse.
Alma was born Feb. 16, 1918 in Caledonia, Minn. to John and Elizabeth
(Wilwert) Frank. She attended Catholic Central grade School and
graduated from Loretto High School in 1934. Alma also attended and
graduated from Wisconsin Business University in 1938. After graduating,
she held various jobs with the Federal Government, working with the
WPA, SCS, SSA, US Census and War Production Board in Washington, D.C.
from 1941 through 1945 before retiring from the IRS in Bridgeport,
Conn. in 1979.
In 1949, Alma married Arthur Michaud from Soldier Pond, Maine and New
York City. They lived for many years in Milford, Conn. where they
raised their six children.
Alma lived almost half of her life in Caledonia, her early years,
various years during adulthood and for 23 of her ‘golden years’ with
her husband, Arthur and their children. Alma lived throughout the USA,
from San Francisco, Calif. to New York City, Connecticut and Georgia.
Alma was very active in St. Mary’s Parish and the Catholic Daughters of
the Americas. She also supported many various charities and political
organizations.
She is survived by her children: Mary (Richard) Goodpaster, Salt Lick,
Ky.; Jaques Michaud (Dee Himmer), Richfield, Minn.; Prof. Thomas (Kim)
Michaud, PhD, Wheeling, W. Va.; Jean (Chet) McDonough, Woodstock, Ga.;
Kathleen (James P., MD) Havey, Wilmington, Ohio; and Francis (Laura)
Michaud, Nahant, Mass.; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
and a brother Henry ‘Heinie’ (Helen) Frank, Caledonia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant brother, and brother LeRoy ‘Skin’ Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Saturday, July 11, at St.
Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate
and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be
from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Hall, behind the church.
Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on
Saturday. Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Parish, Caledonia.

David Ranzenberger

David H. Ranzenberger, 66, of Caledonia, Minn., died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
He was born Oct. 11, 1942 in Caledonia to Raymond and Gertrude
(Blixrud) Ranzenberger. David was a veteran of the United States Army
having served from February of 1960 until February of 1963. On Dec. 19,
1964, he married Connie Schaller. Dave worked forty years in
construction, operating heavy equipment until he retired in the fall of
2000. He then bought his own semi-tractor and hauled for Your Town
Transport Inc. in Elroy, Wis., until June of 2004. Dave continued to
work part-time for Sno-Pac Foods in Caledonia until 2007. Dave was a
member of the Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post #191 of Caledonia.
Survivors include his wife, Connie of Caledonia; two sons: Randy, Lake
Bay, Wash., and Bill (Barb), Caledonia; three grandchildren; a
great-granddaughter; three brothers: John (Ruth Ann), Caledonia; Tom
(Kate), Stewartville, Minn.; and Jim (Gayle), Lanesboro, Minn.; four
sisters: Karen (Rick) Hutchings, Cuba, Mo.; Jane (Paul) Schiltz,
Caledonia; Joyce (Dale) Dorsch, Winona; and Lisa (Steve) Johnson,
Plainview, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Linda Ranzenberger, Caledonia; his
father-in-law, William Schaller, Freeburg, Minn.; one
brother-in-law, Robert (Bev) Schaller,Onalaska, Wis.; five
sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Rask; Caledonia; Ila Schaller, Freeburg; Jean
(Arlin) Gran, Reno, Minn.; and Gwendolyn Schaller and Shirley
(Tom) Richards, both of New Albin, Iowa.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eileen Mack; a
brother, Daniel Ranzenberger; his mother-in-law, Blanche Schaller; and
a brother-in-law, Donald Rask.
A memorial service of remembrance will be Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11
a.m., at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, Caledonia. Burial will be in
Oakland Cemetery, Dresbach, Minn., with military honors by the
Loveless-Eikens American Legion Post #191 of Caledonia. Friends may
call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of
service.
