Area man gets 12 years for sexual assaults

A 25-year-old La Crescent man on probation in Winona and Houston counties was sentenced Feb. 4 to more than 12 years in prison for three sexual assaults.
Robert Neal Armagost III pleaded guilty in January to one felony and two gross misdemeanor counts of criminal sexual conduct. He was sentenced Wednesday in Houston County District Court to 153 months in prison.
According to criminal complaints, Armagost sexually assaulted a female acquaintance at her La Crescent home Nov. 9, 2008, after she had been drinking with Armagost and his wife.
After his arrest, two other women reported Armagost had groped or sexually assaulted them on separate occasions in June and October, both after nights of heavy drinking.
Armagost also admitted to violating probation on felony theft, escape and physical child abuse charges in Houston and Winona counties.
