Caledonia/Spring Grove hosted Byron for a gymnastics meet on Thursday,
Jan. 31, scoring a team total of 113.675 to Byron’s 131.3.
Coach Paul Stevens said that they had a good meet despite not having
Courtney Gran or Samantha Wermager in the line-up. “Courtney is still
recoving from an ankle injury, while Samantha has been very ill all
week along,” he said
“Ally Sheehan was able to compete on beam,” said Stevens. “Even though
she is not at full strength, she had a great routine and score.
We had a great routine from Miranda Moen on floor, and Skylar Schoh on
bars that helped out greatly with our team score. Kaley Cross and Emily
Klug also had good routines to boost our scores. Samantha will
probably not be able to compete in the meet on Monday as well. I would
like for her to regain all of her strength before attempting a
come-back.”
In vault Klug took fifth place with a score of 8.025. Cross scored 7.6;
Moen 7.55 and Schoh 7.1. C-SG’s total on vault was 30.275 to Byron’s
34.9.
C-SG’s total on uneven bars was 25.9 to Byron’s 29.875. Cross took
third place with 7.725, and Schoh fifth with 6.775. Moen scored 6.325
and Klug 5.075.
On beam, Sheehan took fourth place with 7.925, and Cross fifth with
7.375. Klug scored 6.675 and Moen 6.625. C-SG’s total was 28.6 to
Byron’s 31.425.
In floor exercise: Cross took fourth with 8.45; Moen scored 7.875; Klug
7.150 and Allison Zard 5.425. The Warriors’ total was 28.9; the Bears’
total was 35.
Cross was third in the all-around with a total score for the night of 31.150. Moen scored 28.375 and Klug 26.925.
In JV, Mariah Stone scored 5.9 and Rachael Mills 3.7 on beam. On floor,
Stone scored 6.05; Cheryl Kirchner 5.5; Mackenzie Moen 5.4; and Chelsey
Vickerman 3.95. In vault, Jennifer DeWitt scored 7.05. On uneven bars
Stone scored 4.1 and DeWitt 2.4.
Next: C-SG competed at Stewartville on Monday, Feb. 4. They host West Salem on Friday, Feb. 8.
