Ethel Norma Olson, 91, Spring Grove, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008 at home.
Ethel was born in Black Hammer Township, Houston County on May 16,
1916, to Lena (Lien) Storlie and Alfred C. Storlie. She was baptized
and confirmed at the Black Hammer Lutheran Church. She graduated from
Spring Grove High School in 1934 and from the Normal Training School a
year later. She taught school in the rural schools of Houston
County until 1940. She married Raymond Olson on June 26, 1937.
Ethel lived on the family farm until November of 2007 when she moved
into the Manor Apartments in Spring Grove. Ethel was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church and Valheim Lodge of the Sons of Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 2001; a son,
Spencer Olson in 2002; three sisters: Inez Wilhelmson, Lyla Lockhart,
Donna Albaugh; and one brother, Lorrin Storlie.
She is survived by sons: Gary (Rosaaen) Olson, Sioux Falls, S.D.;
Adrian (Jean) Olson, Deerwood, Minn.; and Jeffrey (Marsha) Olson,
Deerwood; and daughter-in-law Carolyn Olson of Spring Grove; nine
grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters: Viola Alstad,
Spring Grove; Alpha Wiegrefe, Eitzen; Doris Folkert, Plainview, Minn.;
brothers: Norman Storlie, Spring Grove; Luther Storlie, Spring Grove;
and Irvin Storlie, Spring Grove.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 13
from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Roble Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
memorials are preferred to the Endowment Fund at Trinity Lutheran
Church.
