Sam Smerud, 54 of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at his home in Fargo.
Sam
was born in LaCrosse Wis. on February 2, 1953 to Al and Lorna (Darling)
Smerud. During his New Albin grade school years he was one of Shookieís
boys and his love of baseball carried with him through his high school
years at Aquinas High School in La Crosse. Third base was his spot
there and in Legion Ball.
Sam graduated with a Bachelorís Degree
in Nursing at Viterbo College and a Masterís Degree in Health Care
Administration from the University of Minnesota. He worked for Banner
Health Systems of Fargo as a Clinical Informatacist for many years.
More recently he worked as an IT Consultatant for I.B.M. He married
Barbara Wrights.
Sam is survived by his loving companion Rhonda
Golz of Fargo N.D. two children; Sam Smerud of Edina, Minn. Jennifer
Smerud of Colorado Springs Colo.; his parents; Al and Lorna Smerud of
La Crosse Wis.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m.,
Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Josephís Catholic Church in New Albin,
Iowa with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial will be in St.
Josephís cemetery in New Albin. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until
time of services at the church. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in
Lansing is assisting the family.
