Richard’s Sanitation owner Richard Skauge dies April 23 PDF Print
richardskauge.jpgLongtime Caledonia-area businessman Richard S. Skauge 61, died Thursday, April 23 at his Spring Grove home.
Skauge owned and operated Richard’s Sanitation, which served the communities of Caledonia, Spring Grove, Brownsville, Eitzen, Houston, Mabel, Canton, French Island, Wis., as well as a number of businesses in the La Crosse area.
Skauge started the sanitation business in the mid-1970s with Marcus Schwebach and Gilbert Hauser under the name Caledonia Sanitation Service. Skauge became the sole owner of the business in the 1980s, changed the name to Richard’s Sanitation and has been serving customers in Houston, Fillmore and La Crosse counties ever since.
In the 1990s Richard’s Sanitation began offering roll-off collection containers to better accommodate his customers.
According to family members, future plans are to continue the business operations as they are currently conducted.

i worked for richard back in the 80s and he was a great boss you couldnt ever bye a drink when we went to jacks bar and when he was up there he was there to have fun ,he was always living it up old skoge was very fair boss and a good friend God speed Richard RiP.
