Roger E. “Jergy” Jergenson, 79, of La Crosse and formerly of Houston,
Minn., died on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical
Center.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1930 in Houston, Minn. to Burden and Anna
(Johnson) Jergenson. He graduated from Houston High School in 1948 and
went to work at Trane Company, where he worked for 43 1/2 years. He was
a member of Lodge 21 and retired in 1992. Roger married Celia Palmquist
on June 10, 1949 and they had six children. They later divorced. He
married Winnifred Miller on Nov. 12, 1982. Roger was a part time farmer
for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Winnie, six children: Dan (Lorrie), Terry
(Annette), Tim (Sherry), Mary (Harold) Naber, Kathy Young, and Mike
(Debbie); five step-children: Laurie Weber, Kathy Riney, Barbara (Mark)
Sloggy, Linda (Tim Snyder) Blakeley, and Dan Miller; 20 grandchildren,
14 step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his mother Anna.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Milton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at Cross
of Christ Lutheran Church, Houston, Minn. Pastor Lane Zaffke will
officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Stone Church
Cemetery, Houston. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home
of La Crescent on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and at the church on
Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
