Robert
Warren Hefte, age 89 of Caledonia, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at
Tweeten Lutheran Healthcare Center in Spring Grove, Minn.
He was born Nov. 20, 1919 in Caledonia to Inoh and Wilma (Abbotts) Hefte. He graduated from Caledonia High School in 1938.
He served in the United States Army during WWII, from 1942 to 1946.
During this time he was stationed in the South Pacific. He was
discharged as a Staff Sgt. from Battery C, 165, AAA Battalion.
On April 14, 1946 Bob married Josephine Burtness at Wilmington Lutheran Church in rural Spring Grove.
Bob attended and graduated from Dunwoody Institute. He partnered with
his father in his clothing business, and then went on to be a
construction plumber and steam fitter with Local 6, Rochester. He
worked all over the states of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin. He retired
in 1982.
Bob served as a Boy Scout leader for area Troup #51. He was a member of
the Masonic Lodge in Caledonia, the Plumbers and Fitters Union, Sons of
Norway of Spring Grove, the Caledonia V.F.W. and American Legion, and
the Caledonia Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife Josephine of Caledonia; four sons: David
(Sharon) Hefte, Calif.; Eric (Barb) Hefte, Caledonia; William (Jeanne)
Hefte, Winona, Minn.; and James (Debra) Hefte, Rochester, Minn.; seven
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at
Wilmington Lutheran Church in rural Spring Grove. Pastor Elizabeth
Stempinski will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Evergreen
Cemetery in Caledonia. Military Rites will be provided by the American
Legion and V.F.W. of Caledonia. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Tuesday at Wilmington Lutheran Church.
