Too biased for our schools

To the Editor:
I was reading my Argus and saw school district faculty with state Representative Greg Davids. I would like to suggest perhaps we can too see in the Argus state Representative Sharon Ropes with the Warriors state champion women’s basketball team. I feel there are too many athletes to go around for one candidate.
This issue concerned me because of biased ads in the past from Greg Davids. Notice the difference between Peggy Hanson’s (2004 DFL candidate for 31-B seat) beliefs and opinions in the ad (which Davids approved and published in the Argus, which is published below). I can see no segregation examples in her political views.
It’s a shame and our embarrassment for the school district to discriminate on racism, gender preference and sexual orientation. Please favor same rights for all people. Don’t favor discrimination. Hate is not a family value nor a valuable work ethic either. And those who should lean towards intolerance shall not, may not, and cannot work with our school district, not in state or local government. Please do put an end to intolerance. That’s a fairer picture and a kinder message.
The Davids ad
On gay marriage-
Greg was proud to co-author the bill that would have placed a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would protect marriage as between one man and one woman.
•Greg feels strongly that marriage is one of the most sacred bonds that we have as a society.
•Greg will not stand by and let activist judges break apart the institution of marriage.
•Greg believes that marriage has always, and will always be between one man and one woman, and he is willing to fight to keep it that way!
On gay marriage-
Peggy believes that District 31B is not ready to embrace gay marriage.
•Peggy favors civil unions for gay couples.
•Peggy believes that activist judges should be allowed to make decisions on gay marriage and that we should not amend our Constitution to protect marriage as between one man and one woman. (Houston County Township Officers candidate forum. (Caledonia 7-21-2004)
