Selness states, ìThis park is
extra special to me. My grandfather, George Hendel, Sr., owned the land
where the shelter building is located and my family continues to own
land within the statutory boundary. This feels like home to me.î Beaver
Creek has an excellent and knowledgeable staff all of whom have been in
the park more than five years including Loren Lapham, Brad Vix, Dan
Oehmigan and Karen Fried.
Selness says she is looking forward to
working with park neighbors, the community, Historic Bluff Country and
local service groups to promote and expand opportunities in this
wonderful, natural area. ì I encourage people to come out and explore
this hidden gem in the midst of our rural area. Bring a picnic, pack
your tent, learn geocaching, host a meeting in the shelter, bring your
binoculars, walk your dog (on its leash) and support our parks by
purchasing an annual permit.î
Selness is also the owner of Travel
by design a full-service travel agency located in Caledonia. She is
married to Steve Selness and they have a son, Peter, 15.
