On March 11, the residents of the 17 townships in Houston County will be observing the purest form of democratic government when they hold their township elections and annual meetings. Here is a list of polling places, times, and positions that will be filled for each township.
• Black Hammer Township election will be held at the Black Hammer Town Hall on County Road 4 about five miles north of Spring Grove, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. James Solum is the incumbent supervisor; Tilford Ike is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
• Brownsville Township election will be held at the Brownsville Town Hall on County Road 24 (the old Davy School), from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; clerk, two year term. Doris Mitchell is the incumbent clerk, William Sheehan is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15.
• Caledonia Township election will be from 3-8 p.m. at the Caledonia City Hall. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Holly Klankowski is the incumbent clerk, Kermit McRae is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will follow.
• Crooked Creek Township election will be held at the Crooked Creek Town Hall in the old Freeburg School from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and clerk two year term. Andre Moen is the incumbent clerk, Llyod Lampert is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will be at 8:15 p.m.
• Hokah Township election will be held at Hokah Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Ruth Horihan is the incumbent clerk, Richard Markos is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will follow the counting of the ballots at 8:10.
• Houston Township election will be 5-8 p.m. at the Houston Town Hall at the corner of Henderson and Highway 16. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; clerk, two year term. Christine Rischette is the incumbent clerk, John Beckman is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
• Jefferson Township election will be held at Jefferson Town Hall on County Road 5 about four miles west of New Albin from 3:30-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. James Hammell is the incumbent supervisor, and George Mauss is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting starts at 3 p.m.
• La Crescent Township will be from 1-8 p.m. at the La Crescent Town Hall in the La Crescent Community Fire Building. The following offices are up for election: two supervisors, three year terms, and clerk, two year term. Karen Schuldt is the incumbent clerk, Bob Cummings and Bill Beckman are the incumbent supervisors. The annual meeting is at 8:15 p.m.
• Mayville Township election will be held at the Mayville Town Hall on the Houston County Fairgrounds in Caledonia from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Glenn Meiners is the incumbent clerk, and Maynard Welscher is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting is at 8 p.m.
• Money Creek Township election will be held at the Money Creek Town Hall from 3:30 - 8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Michelle Quinn is the incumbent clerk, and Richard Torgeson is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
• Mound Prairie Township election will be held at the Mound Prairie Town Hall, 9749 Highway 21, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Red Haines is the incumbent clerk, and Lester Beckman, Jr. is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will be at 8:05 p.m.
• Sheldon Township election will be from 4-8 p.m. at the Sheldon Town Hall in Sheldon. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, clerk, two year term. Sherry Jergenson is the incumbent clerk, and Dale Runningen is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will take place at 3 p.m.
• Spring Grove Township election will be held at the Spring Grove Town Hall from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and clerk/treasurer, two year term. Michael Wiste is the incumbent clerk/treasurer, and Mike Patterson is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will take place at 8:05.
• Union Township election will be held at the Union Town Hall on Highway 44 five miles southwest of Hokah from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. Jerald Frank is the incumbent supervisor, and Dennis Conniff is the incumbent clerk. The annual meeting will take place at 4 p.m.
• Wilmington Township election will be held at the Wilmington Town Hall, 14753 County Road 17, from 3-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and clerk/treasurer, two year term. Marilyn Sylling is the incumbent clerk/treasurer, and Kenneth Meyer is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
• Winnebago Township election will be held at the Eitzen Fire Station meeting room from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term; and clerk, two year term. Dale Horn is the incumbent supervisor, and Joyce Staggemeyer is the incumbent clerk. Business meeting will be at 8:05 p.m.
• Yucatan Township election will be held from 3-8 p.m. at the Yucatan Town Hall, 10155 County Road 4, Houston. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and clerk, two year term. Sandra Ask is the incumbent clerk, and Larry Gaustad is the incumbent supervisor. The annual meeting will be held at 8:05 p.m.
