Curious why the Historical Society isn't simply taking over the HISTORICALLY REGISTERED Jail as their new building instead of building yet another tax free building! Odd how we are spending money we don't have....

Don't waste your breath "curious". This county is in serious trouble. Lets not forget about the 30 million dollars they plan to spend next year. If you read the "argus" though, they are "saving" money all over the place..... What a joke. I wish we could have a recall election like they did over in wisconsin but not possible in Minnesota. I would just like to see how many of our elected officials stay in houston county after ramming all this spending down OUR throats!!

You can check on this, but I don't believe Houston County is paying for that building. County Historical Society is a totally separate company paying for their own building. As for the jail, it needs to be torn down. As an unused empty building, it will only cost the county more and more money year after year. Anyone who thinks it's such a wonderful, historical building can have it sold to them for $1.00 and can take care of it themselves. And wasn't it interesting a couple of weeks ago to see the county paying rent at the fairgrounds for land the county owns!

Looks like we are going to have a nice building ,but at what

cost? Also did they get three bids? When the Meyer Furniture

building project bids came in there was a HUGE difference

between the low and high bids .They took the low bid and saved

thousands of dollars.
