According to an article in The Rochester Post-Bulletin, a Caledonia man faces numerous felony charges for allegedly breaking into a Caledonia woman’s house and physically and sexually assaulting her.
Dean Joseph Gavin, 39, has been charged in Houston District Court with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary, domestic assault, domestic assault by strangulation and single counts of terroristic threats and interfering with a 911 call.
According to court complaints, Gavin entered the woman’s home about 5 a.m., Aug. 23 when she was sleeping in the living room. She woke up and told the man to leave, but he allegedly forced her onto the couch and sexually assaulted her. The woman told authorities that she fought and punched Gavin and screamed for help. When she got away from him, she grabbed her cell phone to call for help, but Gavin took it from her and threw it across the room, the complaint alleges. She told police that Gavin took a pillow and held it over her mouth, nose and head. When he left the house, the woman locked the door and called police.
