stanleymeiners.jpgSergeant First Class (retired), Stanley A. Meiners, 64, of Du Bois, Ill. formerly of Caledonia, died at 2:40 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at his residence.

Stanley was born Jan. 17, 1945 at Caledonia, Minn., the son of Henry and Elsie (Fliehe) Meiners. He married Edna Maynard on Dec. 17, 1966 at Boles Acres, N.M.

Stanley retired in 1984 as a Sergeant First Class from the US Army with over twenty years of service to his country. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam war. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW and was a Mason.

He is survived by his wife of Du Bois; son, Leon Meiners, Du Bois; brother, Marlyn Meiners, Caledonia; and sister-in-law, Patsy Donaghue, Du Quoin, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a brother Lester Meiners.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, Ill. with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa. Burial with military honors will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Mound City National Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Anna VFW Post 3455.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
