As of March 1, Jody Schmitz is the new owner of Shapes in Caledonia. The mother of three is settling into her role quite nicely.
“It has been great,” she said of the transition. “The clientele here are wonderful and they’ve been very patient with me. I think it will continue to be really fun and it’s been nice meeting new people.”
Schmitz, who was born and raised in Caledonia, also owns a Nutritional company called USANA.
“It compliments what we’re doing here [at Shapes] nicely.” said Schmitz. “USANA is a company that sells food supplements and nutrition which works on a cellular level so you can get the most for your health.”
Eventually she said she’d like to tie the two entities together.
“We’d like to host events to express the benefits of both,” said Schmitz. “Women can sign up and come if they’re interested with their overall health. We’re only here for a short time so we want to do all we can to make that time comfortable and looking at overall health is a big way.”
Shapes, which is open 24/7 to women only, offers several workout programs and opportunities.
The Caledonia facility is very clean and well kept and has several machines which are of benefit to those who wish to get into better shape.
“It’s a clean, relaxed environment for women to come and work out in,” said Schmitz.
Schmitz bought the Shapes from Bonnie Felten and said she couldn’t have done it without the help of the former owner.
“She’s been wonderful,” said Schmitz. “She helps out whenever she can and she has been very patient with me. I’ve had a million questions and she is always such a good help.”
For information on becoming a member you can call Shapes at 725-8682. An open house is being planned for May 3.
