Mr. Ibisch, You seem to misunderestimate the importance of research conducted at our universities nation wide...ALL types of research whether you personally believe in it or not. Without research institutions studying medicine, climate, environmental health, etc, our knowledge in how to heal and deal with problems would be much more limited. We should not discourage medical research! Furthermore, attempting to persuade people to influence decisions based on money is a lousy way to try to solve what you see as a problem. All too often we see this happen and it's what I consider corruption.
