Three Caledonia girls basketball players were named to the Three Rivers
All-Conference squad. Two others were given honorable mention. Head
coach Scott Sorenson shares his thoughts on the players who received
the honors.
All conference:
Jr. Libby Augedahl: “Libby really came on this year and
proved she was a complete basketball player,” said Sorenson. “She
did so many things for us. She was second on the team in scoring,
first on the team in rebounds, second in steals and fourth in
assists. Libby averaged 15.1 points a game through the last 12
games of the season. She just simply outworked other teams and
was very aggressive both offensively and defensively. We
are looking for big things from Libby next season.”
Jr. Cassie Gran: “Cassie followed up a good year last year
with a even better year,” noted the coach. “After being the
leading scorer for us last year in the state tournament game, she
followed it up by leading the team in scoring this year. She was
also second on the team in rebounding and fifth on the team in
steals. What is most impressive about Cassie is that she gets it
done against players a lot taller than her. She simply out works
tham and plays with heart and determination. We are looking for
big things from Cassie next season.”
Jr. Megan King: “Megan stepped up as a leader this year and
set out to make her game complete. Known for her scoring
abilities and assists last year as a starter, she even outdid herself
this year leading the team in assists for the second straight year,”
said Sorenson. “Megan was also thirrd on the team in rebounds and
second in steals. Megan made other players better this year and
that is what makes her a complete player. Megan plays hard and
aggressive whenever she was in the game. We are looking for big things
from Megan next year.”
Honorable mention:
Sr. Sarah Colleran: “Was named honorable mention for the second
straight year,” said Sorenson. “Sarah returned this year after
sitting out much of last year with a knee injury to lead our
team. With a healthy Sarah we were hard to beat. She does
so many things for our team in setting up the other players to be
successful. There were games when she would go out and get 5 or 6
steals a bunch of assists and a few points, then there would be games
she would go out and put up 20. She was a true leader of the is
team in all facets ofthe game. Sarah will be missed next season.”
Jr. Laquita Becker: “Laquita is a scorer. She has a knack
for coming in off the bench and igniting us with her ability to get to
the rim and finish,” said Sorenson. “She is so quick that she
puts trememdous pressure on opposing teams. Laquita led the team
in steals, was fourth in assists and fourth in scoring. Laquita
will be asked to do a lot more next season as she slides into the
starting point guard role for us and we expect big things from her next
season.”
