Caledonia Area Middle School students had an opportunity to get a look at various occupations that might be looming on the horizon last Thursday morning during the Middle School Career Day.
The sixth, seventh, and eighth graders spent the morning listening to presentations given by professionals from 10 different facets of the working world. Those making presentations included:
•Ace Link Telecom representatives;
•Dr. James Fink of Fink Chiropractic;
•Matt Schmitz of Schmitz AC//Heating/Refrigeration;
•Matt and Susan Bauer and Rob and Erin Mason of Affordable Technology Solutions;
•City park and recreation specialist Mike Ulrich;
•Salon professional Val Reinke;
•Chief Randy Shefelbine of the Caledonia Police Department;
•Nancy Schroeder of Merchants Bank;
•Chris Hubbard of the LaCrosse Tribune; and
•Fireman Warren Thomas.
“In the past, Career Day was just offered to our eighth graders, but we expanded it this year to also include our sixth and seventh graders,” Middle School Principal Brian Doty explained. “The Greater Coulee Region Boy Scouts Council helps coordinate the event, with the help of our school counselor Kay Dahle.
“It’s a great way for our middle school students to get an idea of what’s out there,” Doty continued. “And we certainly appreciate all these professionals taking a half day out of their busy schedules to make this such a success.”
