I hope you mention in your article about the $700,000 the county has already spent on land on the present site. The majority of the people there supported the current location. The mayor & council did not hear what the people were saying! They were not representing the community as they chose what they personally wanted. There were some very prominent land owners , politicians & business men that will be deeply affected by this. Also how did Peggy Perry ever get chosen as council member anyway? Bob Burns has been a resident all his life & was a former accountant, businessman, council member & mayor & he should have been selected to fill in. But Morey chose Peggy Perry with NO experience as he knew that she didn't want the jail downtown! How can she even vote on this when she was on the council less then 1 week?? Could Morey be alittle intimidated by Burns who has experience & is extremely knowledgable?? The business owners, county board & land developers are not happy about this decision as well as the new zoning ordinance.Seems like a control issue! Who is going to want to come & develop land in Caledonia?? This is just ridiculous as their are no surrounding communities with this strict of an ordinance!!!

We do live in a republic and while its not certain who has minority rights they exist and the people who oppose the building in the location chosen by the County board have that right to protest.

May as well throw out the entire Zoning ordinace. So just the parties that can stiff-arm and blackmale the local council get the adjustments they need?

Who is this Peggy Perry anyway? Did she appear off the face of the earth? What does she know about Caledonia or City government? Oh I guess that doesn't matter-you just have to be against the CJC being built on the present location & vote how Mayor Morey wants you to & you can be on the City Council. That's all it takes! Do we have any takers??? Election time is right around the corner!!!

I sure hope the council covers the true feeling of the majority of those that attended the meeting. There were many disappointed citizens that night after they were told by an official the council wasn't going to vote that night & they did! Were they hoping everyone would leave? What an embarassment to our community to have such a controlling, heartless & stubborn Mayor! There was no compromise even after Randi Vick made a motion. How sad!
