The Houston County Township Officers Association will hold their annual meeting Thursday, April 10 at the Back 40 (formerly Elmer’s Supper Club), beginning at 7 p.m.

The bulk of the annual meeting will center on the damage to township infrastructure during the August 2007 flash floods, and what state and federal help is available.

Houston County Highway Engineer Marcus Evans will be the keynote speaker. He will be providing a summary of township and county road projects currently being funded by FEMA, the county and township bridge projects scheduled for 2008, the progress of repair projects that were started last fall following the floods, and give an update on a federal sign program, which Houston County is part of the pilot program.

Other speakers include District One Township Representative Gary Pederson, County Zoning Administrator Rick Frank, County Emergency Services Coordinator Kurt Kuhlers, County Assessor Tom Dybing, Bill Hirte of FEMA, state Sen. Sharon Erickson Ropes, and state Rep. Ken Tschumper.

The township supervisors, clerks and treasurers from all 17 townships, Houston County Commissioners, and county department heads have been invited to attend.

The election of the township association officers will also take place.
