ISD #299 holds superintendent evaluation and lines up coaches PDF Print

The District #299 School Board met in closed session on July 19 to perform an employee evaluation of Interim Superintendent Bruce Thomas. The meeting, held an hour prior to the regular school board session, resulted in a positive report, according to a written statement signed by Board Chair Naomi Fruechte.

“The overwhelming response from board members was that Mr. Thomas has shown positive leadership traits and has performed well this past year,” the document states. Thomas was given high marks in people, management, and financial skills. The document concludes that “The overall perception is that Mr. Thomas has done a great job managing our district in 2009-2010.”

In other personnel news, the board accepted the resignation of Eliott Kranz as middle/high vocal music instructor, jazz symposium director, musical director and head baseball coach effective immediately. Ross Martin was hired to take on all three of Kranz’s music teaching duties.

Directors accepted Sally Mensink’s decline of a .336 FTE position as family and consumer science teacher without discussion.

The board accepted a request from Erna Krzebietke to resign her current position as cook II. Also accepted were requests from Krzebietke and Marion Olson to job-share a cook I position.

In sports, Orion (Joey) Gay was hired as assistant girls’ soccer coach. Ryan Cody was hired as junior high girls’ soccer coach.

Co-curricular coaching contracts for the 2010-2011 school year were approved by directors. These include:

School musical- Ross Martin;

Band- Carrie Thompson;

Choir- Ross Martin;

FAA advisor- Bradley Harguth;

FCCLA advisor- (open position);

Jr. class advisor- Brad Church;

Jr. jazz band- Dustin Moburg;

Jazz band- Carrie Thompson;

Jazz symposium- Ross Martin;

Knowledge bowl- Becky Breeser;

Knowledge bowl- David Riley;

Marching & pep band- Carrie Thompson;

National Honor Society- Cheryl Utecht;

School newspaper- Jason Cognac;

Student council- Sue Link;

Yearbook- (open position).
