After 21 years of ownership, Meiners to sell ‘The Crest’ |

Harley and Joanne Meiners have spent the past 21 years as owners and managers of the Crest Inn and Apartments located on the outskirts of Caledonia.
The couple raised their family managing and running the establishment.
Now they’d like to give some other young family that same opportunity.
“We’re pursuing new ownership,” said Meiners. “It could happen tomorrow, a month from now or a year from now, but the business is up for sale.”
As of April 1, the business returned to its original namesake, The Crest, after dropping the Crest Red Carpet Inn and simply returning to “The Crest.”
“Everyone knew us as that anyway,” noted Meiners. “When we did the franchising (taking on the Red Carpet name) people thought we sold out then.”
As the rumors circulated, Meiners felt it would be best to let everyone know his intentions.
“We’ve listed our property and it is for sale,” he said. “We’re looking for local people and we’d really like to keep it family oriented. We think it is what is best for the community.”
The couple still have many other things they are involved in, and plan to spend a little more time with family and the grandchildren.
If he had it all to do over again, Meiners noted he wouldn’t change a thing.
“We’ve enjoyed it,” he said. “We’ve really enjoyed meeting the public and it was nice raising a family through here.”
The Crest Inn and Apartments have 20 motel units and seven apartments.
