During the period of Mar. 26 through Mar. 31, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office received reports of six daytime residential burglaries. The Houston County sheriff’s Office, Spring Grove Police Department, Caledonia Police Department, and the Hokah Police Department investigated the burglaries.
On Apr. 4, Sherry Arlene Pitts, 33, of Caledonia and Jessica Lynn Burmester, 26 of Caledonia, appeared in Houston County District Court after being arrested on warrants issued on Apr. 3.
Both parties appeared in court and were charged with numerous felony counts of burglary and theft. Both subjects were ordered held on bail of $90,000 unconditional bail and $45,000 conditional bail. Both subjects were unable to post bail and will be held pending their next court appearance. The investigation is continuing and the subjects may be charged with additional crimes pending the outcome. Most of the items stolen have been identified and returned to their owners.
Houston County Sheriff Doug Ely would like to remind residents to lock their homes when they leave and to remind all residents that if they see something suspicious, to call the Houston County Sheriff’s Office or their local police department to report it.
