The school board addressed several personnel matters at their regular meeting on Monday, April 21.

Tenure was granted to full time teachers Kay Dahle, and Carrie Erickson as well as to part-time teacher Kimberly Kranz.

Becky Newgaard was placed on unrequested leave of absence effective at the end of the school year.

The resignation of Eileen Beach as the high school family and consumer science and careers teacher was also accepted.

Other matters

Beyond the personnel matters, the board approved a trip request by Brad Harguth requesting that the FFA  group be allowed to attend the State FFA Convention in the Twin Cities.

The convention will have run from April 27-29. Information from the event will be included in the May 7 issue of The Argus.

•A committee met regarding the review of the athletic director’s job description. A preliminary document, meant only for the consideration of the board, was drawn up and presented by Superintendent Mike Moriarty. The board noted some changes and questions they had on the document and asked that Moriarty provide them with an example from a like sized school.

Because the position had been held by Ken Van Den Boom for so long, who will retire at the end of the school year, no current job description was on file.

Further examples will be presented at the next meeting.

•During his administrative report, Middle School Principal Brian Doty brought the board up to date on the recent testing which took place at the school.

The principal noted that there was a week stretch where the most testing in the history of the school, all at one time, had taken place with the 5th through 11th graders each being tested.

The tests, which will be used to determine Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) went well according to Doty.

The results should be made public sometime in late August.
