 Dorothy S. DeWitt, 95, of Caledonia, died May 26, 2008 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, LaCrosse, Wis. She was born August 21, 1912 to August and Alvina (Wiegrefe) Fruechte in Eitzen, Minn. She married Ted DeWitt in October of 1938. Ted and Dorothy raised five children on their family farm west of Caledonia.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon DeWitt of Issaquah, Wash. Lorrie Oestreicher of LaCrosse, Linda Haustein of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a son Robert of LaCrescent, MN, and daughter in law, Marilyn DeWitt of Caledonia; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister, Elsie Weymiller of New Albin, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, son, Roger and two sisters, Martha Rowe and Esther Fruechte.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 am Thursday morning at the church. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
