Esther M. (Diersen) Krueger, 90, of Caledonia died, Saturday January 12, 2008 at Caledonia Care and Rehab, where she had resided for seven years.
Esther was born April 24, 1917 in Caledonia to John and Lisette (Kruse) Diersen. She attended the Hendel School in rural Caledonia. On December 28, 1939, Esther married Merrill Krueger at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they ran a dairy farm and raised turkeys for many years. Merrill preceded Esther in death on February 19, 1999.
Survivors include her son, Elton (Kathy) Krueger of Caledonia; her daughter, Arlene (Harry) Strusz of Winona, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Orinda Diersen of Caledonia and Esther Diersen of Eitzen, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Sund of Viroqua. In addition her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her grandson, Karl Krueger; her brothers, Paul, Carl, and Albert Diersen; and her sisters-in-law, Esther (Paul) Diersen and Elaine Sund.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and School of Caledonia. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia is in charge of the arrangements.
