Four players were chosen by their teammates for season ending honors.
Cassie Gran was chosen most valuable player for the second straight
year. The junior pitcher and lead off hitter in the batting order
led her team to a 19-5 record and a conference championship. “She
really sets the tone for our offense from her lead off position,” coach
Shelly Anderson said. “She brings all the things that you want in
a player,” Anderson added. “She leads us and she will dive and
slide head first.”
Theresa Ellenz won the hustle award. “She’s not afraid to get her
uniform dirty. She is a fearless player. She goes after
everything.”
Michelle Doering was voted the team’s most improved player. “She
has always stepped in where needed,” Anderson said. “She has made
big strides in left field where we needed her. The same was true
of her offense. I’m proud of what she has done.”
Amber Ideker captured the team spirit award again this year. “She
has always been the one who knows what player needs a boost and she
plays that role with encouragement and support. We always knew
that voice would be there for the team.”
