I agree that public input is needed. Start with an open house at the Courthouse/Jail so that the public can see first-hand what their county offices/jail look like. The public would be able to see the five social workers that are crammed into one tiny little office. There is no privacy when meeting with clients or on the phone with clients. How would you like to be one of those clients knowing that your case had to be discussed with many ears listening. How about the Surveyor's Office that has water on the floor every time there is a substantial rainfall. Prisoners are walked through the halls where the public stands waiting for their turn at the counter. Please consider running for office, either city council or commissioner, or possibly offering to be a part of a new planning committee as Mr. Gerard has suggested. I feel also that the CJC belongs on-site. However, I also feel that the highway department and several county offices would be doable on the 22 acres near the high school. With county residents, city council and commissioners all working together, this could work.
