The Caledonia/Houston wrestlers split meets in a triangular they hosted last week.  The Warriors lost to Plainview Elgin-Millville and then defeated Holmen.

In the opener, the Warriors improved on its showing from an earlier meet, losing 41-23.  “We were a lot closer this time,” coach Jay Tolleson said.  “We are getting better,” he said.

Wins by Troy Frank at 189 and Chris Myhre at 215 brought the coach’s praise.

Also winning were Lee Burg, Owen Fitzgerald, and Tyler Stemper.  Fitzgerald and Stemper won by falls while Burg had a major decision.

Down Holmen, 39-32

The Warriors beat Holmen as Chris Myhre won by fall at heavyweight to “seal the win for us,” according to coach Jay Tolleson.

“We are going to be good in the middle,” Tolleson said.  Lyndon Becker won a 12-7 overtime match at 119 and then Burg won in a 28 second fall. At 135 Owen Fitzgerald won by a decision before Tyler Stemper had a major decision at 140.  Cole Macejik has a fall at the next weight before Cullen Becker also got a fall at 152

Troy Frank had a dominant technical fall, 20-4.  Myhre finished with a second period pin.
