These eight ladies were the first to complete their studies at the Certified Healthcare Academy, which was co-sponsored by Workforce Development, Inc. and Caledonia Care and Rehab (CC&R). The students completed a three-week course, which prepared them for the certified nursing assistant program. According to Workforce Area Manager Dallas Groten, this is the first healthcare academy held in Southeast Minnesota. Similar educational programs have been held in other parts of the state, and collaborated with healthcare facilities similar to CC&R, Groten reported. “This is an excellent facility; the staff worked well with us to make this a success, and we plan to conduct more programs in the future,” Groten said. CC&R provided four staff persons to assist with this training, and also collaborates with Southeast Technical College of Winona in offering the certified nursing assistant program.
